What is Empathy?

A quick Google search will turn up oodles of different definitions on what empathy means especially having “spiritual”, “religious”, or any other context in front of it. Simply speaking, “empathy is the ability to feel what another person is feeling.” As a side note, this should never be confused with pity or sympathy. These are very, very, very different things. An empath has the ability to have a deep and personal understanding of what a person is feeling and going through without having had the same experience. Understanding the emotions at a very raw and truthful level for what the person is experiencing or going through.

If we were to think of the empath as the receiver and the person they’re working with as the broadcaster, this allows the receiver to feel the emotions as the person is telling the story and have a deeper understanding of the story itself and help the broadcaster audit and validate what they’re feeling as it compares to their story. When the receiver is operating at maximum efficiency they’re comparing what they’re listening to and what they’re feeling and parroting that back to the broadcaster when there is a misalignment or even when there is alignment, to either validate or audit their feelings.
